Hugo has topped the National Board of Review. The film also received Best Director for Martin Scorsese. The Descendants regained its buzz as Alexander Payne's screenplay, George Clooney and Shailene Woodley recieved awards. Beginners continued its winning streak as it won Best Supporting Actor. However the biggest surprise comes with Tilda Swinton as everyone expected Michelle Williams or Meryl Streep to win Best Actress.
