97 scores compete for Best Score


Today the Academy announced that 97 scores will compete for the Best Music Score award. A couple of absences include Cliff Martinez's music to Drive as well as Howard Shore's score to A Dangerous Method. In addition Alexandre Desplat's scores to The Tree of Life and A Better Life were also disqualified. 
Thomas Newman and Michael Ghiacchino qualified with four scores while other composers John Williams, Alberto Iglesias, Alexandre Desplat and Danny Elfman also had multiple entries.
