Reel Salazar's BEST of 2013 in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror

For the past two years our blog has honored the best in science fiction and fantasy. Past winners include Hugo and The Dark Knight Rises. This year Science Fiction, fantasy, Horror and Action films demonstrated that there were unforgettable genre movies. They were infused with great acting, incredible directing and most importantly, an original visions. The following films demonstrated that although genre films have a stigma against them, there is still room for creativeness.

This year the race came down to one film as it showed how cinema has evolved. The technological feat mixed with the emotional story line and great acting only made for an enduring movie that was unforgettable. The other four films were a demonstration of how the genre film has changed and while "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was a typical Hollywood film, it was a great adventure.
