I hope I'm wrong about the title because those three films are far superior to some of the films that the Producers Guild of America have picked as nominees for their best films of 2011. The Producers Guild is generally known for picking the eventual Oscar winners. "The Hurt Locker", "The King's Speech", "Slumdog Millionaire", and "No Country for Old Men" have won this prestigious award before running away with Oscar Gold. The following is the list of the nominees, and as you may have guessed, the aforementioned films in the title are no where to be seen.

Because the Oscars have set a new rule in which there could be anywhere from 5 to 10 nominees, the following list shows us a clear indication of what the Oscar's eventual list will read like. However it is also important to note that the Producers Guild's list have always nominated one film that does not end up on the list. Last year "The Town" was nominated for the PGA but not for the Oscar. "Invictus" and "Star Trek" also suffered the same fate as they were nominated for the PGA but not for the Oscar. Still this list says a lot about the Guilds as both "Drive" and "The Tree of Life" were left out of the SAG's and now the PGA's. In my opinion going on the quality of films this year, this list is rather safe with familiar faces like George Clooney (Ides of March) and David Fincher (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) getting nominations because of who they are. "Bridesmaids" seems like an attempt to appeal to a wider female audience as is "The Help." And "Moneyball", in my opinion, is the most overrated film this year.
The clear winners in all are "The Artist" and "The Descendants," who based on other precursors and the SAGs, are the front runners for the Oscar's coveted Best Picture Award (but most people already knew that). "The Tree of Life" was the other big critics' darling, but it seems that Terrence Malick may not get any recognition for what I believe to be his greatest film.
