Ten films compete for the Visual Effects Category at the Oscar

Back in December the Academy announced a list of 15 films that would compete for the Visual effects category. The list has now been trimmed to 10 films of which only five will end up on the nomination ballot. 

The following is the list of contenders:

• “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2″
• “Hugo”
• “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”
• “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”
• “Real Steel”
• “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”
• “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”
• “The Tree of Life”
• “X-Men: First Class”
